Agrilus kangaroo  Distinctive features

(Bronze-)copper coloured (+/- violet-blue reflections on elytra); pre-marginal carinula absent. Similar to Agrilus aurovittatus but differs in: larger size (> 8.5 mm long), broader shape, pubescence on frons thick and squamous, pronotum more flattened, and legs with hind tarsus shorter than the hind tibia (Curletti 2001). Males have a very distinctive aedeagus with the parameres laterally expanded.

Notes

Described by Curletti 2001 who cited two SA paratype collections: one from southwest of Scrubby Peak in the Gawler Ranges, the other from Balgowan on northern Yorke Peninsula.

The Balgowan paratype comprises three individuals from Acacia oswaldii, which is also a larval host, as Curletti 2001 reports that a paratype was reared from this species.
