Castiarina atricollis  Distinctive features

Black and yellow coloration and an oblong body shape with a somewhat bulbous pronotum; elytra with straight sides for much of their length and bispinose apices with the outer spines prominent.

Notes

A widespread species of arid areas.

Host plant notes

In SA adults of this species have mostly been collected on flowering bushes of various subspecies of Desert Senna Senna artemisioides, and on Wattles Acacia spp. to a lesser extent. Barker 2006a records it also from the flowers of Broombush Melaleuca uncinata which notably has flowers of a yellowish colour.
