subfamily Buprestinae » tribe Stigmoderini » subtribe Stigmoderina
Castiarina species group: trifasciata
Superficially resembles C. propinqua but differs in the much reduced blue coloration on the elytral fasciae and ventral surfaces, slightly flared margins on the elytra, and a very distinctive aedeagus with a narrow rostrate centromere and obtuse parameres.
The first specimen of C. domina collected in SA was taken on a Bush Blitz survey at Andamooka HS in September 2016, but I only identified it as this species in November 2020. Hitherto C. domina was considered to be confined to mid-west coastal WA (Barker 2006a).
Barker 2006a reports that this species is usually associated with Acacia. The SA specimen was collected from flowers of Acacia ligulata.
