Ethonion cf. reichei  Distinctive features

Very similar to, and possibly conspecific with, the typical form of Ethon reichei from the Sydney region, but tends to be smaller and less strongly coloured with shorter hairs and scale patches.

Notes

The galls of the SA form of this species are usually found on the root crown near the junction of root and stem, or elsewhere on the upper root or extreme base of the stem. They are typically more gentle swellings than the galls made by E. leai.

Host plant notes

Adults are mostly recorded from a variety of native pea flowers, but its known larval hosts in SA are confined to several species of Pultenaea (Bush-peas).
