Etymology

Greek 'thysanotos' fringed, alluding to the 3 inner perianth-segments and 'pattersonii' after the botanical collector William Paterson (1755-1810).

Plant description

Perennial twining or prostrate herb 10-20cm. Leaves produced infrequently, 1 or 2, radical, linear, terete. Flowers single on branches, tepals 5�10.5 mm long, purple. Flowering September - November. Fruits are capsule 3�4 mm diameter.
