Distribution and status
Found in the far northern and central parts of South Australia and along the Murray River, growing on moist sandy areas around receding lakes or watercourses. Also found in Western Australia, Northern Territory, and Victoria (and Africa and Asia). Considered an introduced species in Australia, however, its occurrence in remote and otherwise pristine wetlands in central Australia, suggests that the species maybe cosmopolitan and native to this region.
