Etymology
Latin 'mimus' mimic actor; evidently alluding to a resemblance of the corolla mouth and limb to a mask and 'prostrata' prostrate
Distribution and status
Grows on the open margins of swamps, creeks or river flats, or in temporarily inundated areas, in clay or sand, sometimes saline soils. Found only in the far North East of South Australia.

Plant description
Prostrate annual or perennial, forming broad mats, rooting at the nodes. Leaves sessile, ovate to elliptic, sometimes narrowly, rarely broadly so, 0.2-0.6 cm long. Flowers solitary in axils. Corolla more or less rotate; tube 6–15 mm long, the rim white, the lobes spreading, 4-5 mm long, blue or pink, rarely white. Flowering July - September (Lake Eyre), April (Murray). Fruits are capsule obovoid, 4–5 mm long.
