Etymology
Grevillea after Charles Francis Greville (1749-1809), a co-founder of the Royal Horticultural Society. Halmaturina is derived from Halmaturus, a now obsolete generic name once applied to kangaroos, and is from the Greek 'halme' meaning a leap or bound, and commonly used as an epithet for species from Kangaroo Island. Laevis from the Latin 'laevis' meaning smooth, referring to the rounded leaf margins and the absence of multiple longitudinal ridges on the upper surface of the adult leaf.
