Etymology
Greek 'pimele' fat, alluding to the fleshy cotyledons, glauca meaning thin bloom
Distribution and status
Recorded on Eyre, Yorke and Fleurieu Peninsulas, Kangaroo Island and the South East of South Australia. Also recorded in Tasmania and the eastern mainland states. Growing in open forests and grasslands, coastal heaths and dunes on sandy soils.. Native, common in South Australia

Plant description
Erect branched shrub to 1 m, glabrous except the inflorescence; heads terminal. Four involucral bracts glabrous outside, inner pair with short fine hairs and ciliate on the margins, outer pair glabrous inside, or nearly so. Flowering August to December. Fruits are seeds covered with a brown, papery perianth with short hairs on the outside, glabrous inside. Seeds are ellipsoid black seed with a brittle, dark, finely ribbed seed coat.
