Etymology
Greek 'pimele' fat, alluding to the fleshy cotyledons and Latin 'strictus' rigid.

Plant description
Erect shrub to 1.5m, stems glabrous. Leaves narrow-elliptic, 5.5-37 mm long, 1-5 mm wide, acute. Inflorescence a bracteate head, flowers 9-37 per head 10-15mm long, creamy white. Flowering July-October. Fruits are fruit approximately 5 mm long, green, enclosed in hypanthium base. Seeds are seed narrow-ovoid, hooked at the apex, glabrous, black, reticulate.
