This species appears to be conspecific with Stanwatkinsius lindi (Blackburn, 1887). In South Australia males with a blue to green head, pronotum and ventral side key out as S. grevilleae using the key in Barker & Bellamy 2001, but they are usually found mixed together in the same population with males having a copper/bronze head and pronotum. There do not appear to be any associated differences in size, shape, or other morphological characters separating the two male colour forms; the females are always copper/bronze.
The blue-green forms are found in the MU and SE Regions and on northern Eyre Peninsula (Gawler Ranges); further south in the EP Region males consistently have copper/bronze colouration of S. lindi. Only males have been assigned the name S. grevilleae here to show the extent of the blue-green variants, although they are probably best regarded as a colour form of S. lindi.
