Head, pronotum and elytral sutural strip metallic blue (or occasionally green); pronotum margins and elytral background straw-coloured; elytra somewhat smoky-translucent when young, aging opaque. Differs from the (typical) WA form in its larger size and having blue (rather than green) metallic colouration; and from T. suturalis of eastern Australia in the pronotum having pale lateral margins, and the ventral side being mostly pale (or at least in the posterior part) rather than predominantly dark metallic blue.
The Waite Insect Collection has a specimen of this species from North Pearson Island which is situated c. 65 km off the coast from near Elliston on western Eyre Peninsula. Significantly, Drooping Sheoak (Allocasuarina verticillata), a suspected larval host plant for this buprestid, dominates one of the major vegetation types on the island.
It was collected from Kangaroo Island for the first time by R.V. Glatz in February 2021.
