Etymology

Thelymitra from Greek 'thelys' meaning a bishop and 'mitra' meaning a headwear, hat, hence a bishop’s mitre, referring to the sometimes plumed or decorated wings of the column, which is usually produced behind and over the anther in a hood-like projection. Odora from the Latin 'odora' meaning perfume, alluding to the species having a fragrance unlike some of species of the thelymitra pauciflora complex.

Native. Rare ion South Australia.

Plant description

Flowering restricted to about two weeks in late October and early November. Easily distinguished only in early flowering stage when the slaty grey buds with pale edges are obvious.
